TBC Bank was established in 1992 by Georgian individuals Mr Mamuka Khazaradze and Mr Badri Japaridze. In 2000 IFC, International Finance Corporation member of World Bank Group and DEG, German Investment and Development Society aquired equity in TBC Bank 11.95% and 9.65 % respectively. In April 2009 IFC and DEG increased their shareholding to 20% and 11.70% respectively. At the same time four other institutions acquired stake in the bank - EBRD, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - 20%, FMO Netherlands Finance Company - 3.3% and US and UK private equity funds 5% each. Since 2009 multilateral organizations jointly hold 55% of banking shares. Georgian Shareholders remain largest single shareholders of TBC Bank.
